There is an open application period for the 2022 Woods Hole Summer Internship. Summer internships at Woods Hole are fully funded for international students in the United States. There will be no out-of-pocket expenses. Students from all around the globe come to the Woods Hole Summer Internship to work on cutting-edge research projects for 10–12 weeks. There are a variety of disciplines in which you may apply for a summer student fellowship. You should take advantage of it.

The Woods Hole Summer Fellowship includes a wide range of subjects, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, engineering, geophysics, mathematics, meteorology, physics, oceanography, and marine policy. Each year, the number of fellows fluctuates.

Financial Benefits

For international students, the Woods Hole Internship in the United States is a fully-funded, fully-paid internship that covers all of the costs.

  • Aweekly stipend for the ten- to twelve-week program; a monthly stipend. During the summer of 2022, the stipend will be $650 per week.
  • Tickets for round-trip flights to Woods Hole are available. The travel allowance for 2020 is $700.
    Living quarters:
  • Two single beds per room in a communal house.
  • International students will aid fellowships in acquiring the proper J-1 visa documents for international students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All international students, regardless of nationality, are welcome to apply.
  • Third-year undergraduates are eligible to apply for the program.
  • Students who will graduate prior to the start of the fellowship period are ineligible for consideration.
  • The fellowship will begin in May of 2022 and last for one year.
  • Second-year students in a three-year Bachelor’s degree program, such as those in the United Kingdom, are required to submit an application.
  • Students enrolled in a five-year combined Bachelor/degree Master’s program must be in their third year.

  • A current unofficial transcript, a PDF document.
  • At least three letters of recommendation from professors. (Recommendation forms are available through the link on the References page.)
  • A completed Course Record listing undergraduate coursework by subject category, a primary textbook used for each course, and the grade received for completing the course.
